Game One of Two Over

Well the first game between SCSU and UND did not go in SCSU’s favor despite being at home. UND was able to take game one in dominating fashion with a four to nothing win. North Dakota took an early lead with a goal in the first period by sophomore Shane Gersich, and UND never looked back.

The Sioux continued on their scoring surge with three more goals in the second period including two more for Gersich which would give him his first ever hat trick. Congrats to Gersich, that’s a tough feat for anyone especially against a heavy rival in SCSU. For some reason St. Cloud could not find its scoring power, however their goalie did fairly well considering he faced 40 total shots and only let in four.

SCSU will have a chance to redeem itself this evening when game two takes place once again at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. This game will be an earlier time at 7 pm instead of 7:37 pm.

SCSU will need not only the power of the Poehling brothers to get on the scoreboard but also their goalie to be on top of game. What I can’t tell you as of now is if SCSU will keep the same goalie in the net from last night or if they’ll change. Typically college teams rotate goalies unless one is on a hot streak so my guess is a change-up but maybe not. You also have to show faith in your goalies win or lose.

Here’s to another great game of hockey between these two teams and maybe a little closer one?
